Alumnus: Leslie Black, 1952–2017

Casa Grande—Leslie Steven Black, 64, of Casa Grande, died on Jan. 19, 2017 at home.

Mr. Black was born on Dec. 17, 1952 in Casa Grande, to J.T. and Violet I. (Horner) Black. He graduated from Casa Grande Union High School in 1971 and served in the Army, where he serviced helicopters and was a private 1st class. He received the Sharpshooter Badge. He also attended Central Arizona College.

He was a mechanic at Lakeshore Mine and worked at Hunt’s Auto. His hobbies were collecting medals and baseball caps. He was devoted to his grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Steven Black; a daughter, Viola Black of Casa Grande; a brother, Tim Black of Buckeye; three sisters, Ladonna Gaut of Peoria, Susan Castellano of Henderson, Nevada, and Heather Waite of Mesa; his parents, of Casa Grande; and four grandchildren.

Visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, at Apostolic Tabernacle in Casa Grande, with the funeral following at 10, Pastor Andy Combs officiating. 

Burial in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, in Phoenix.
